Alexander James is an influencer who is primarily on TikTok and YouTube. He is about 20 years old and posts videos of him traveling alone or with a small group of friends. He has traveled from Japan to Europe, to all across the West most in a camper van or just backpacking his way around.
His first ever video he posted to his YouTube was titled Backpacking in Sedona | Vanlife, whereas the title suggests he goes backpacking in Sedona and is interesting to watch cause it’s his oldest posted video so it doesn’t have the same quality per say as his newer ones. Even then almost two years ago though he gives off the amazing energy that makes his videos so captivating to watch even nowadays.
To me what makes his videos so great even for a pretty small creator is that he is just so alive and he puts all of his energy and his effort into his videos and puts that on top of the amazing scenery he visits. If you planning to become a travel vlogger and post videos similar to his I highly suggest that you take inspiration from him and put all your emotions your feelings in that moment into your videos. An example of great storytelling and filmmaking to me is in his video A video about searching for purpose, where about a minute into the video he puts together a montage of all the places he’s visited in that particular video and splices together it to form a video of him explaining what it means for him to go live his life. Another thing that puts his videos above most people is the fact that he is not doing it for money, he’s not doing it to get famous per say, he is doing it to document his life and share his thoughts on life and the experiences he’s lived through in his 20 years on this earth.
If you enjoy his videos and want to make your videos like that I think the number one thing you should learn and do is to do it for yourself, do not do it to hit the algorithm don’t do it to make billions of dollars, and do it because you love what you do and it will create a more personal and better video. If you also plan to do short-form content like TikTok I think he excels that as well in his most recent TikTok he posted A day in the life traveling with my camera, he shares his trip to Peru with a couple of his friends and it is a beautifully shot 44-second video with a good music choice and great voice over and it is just an extremely enjoy short-form content video to watch. He also shows off another great way to make money without getting a ton of money from TikTok or YouTube which is sponsorships, but he’s not just selling out and giving people a crappy product he’s showing off a product that fits within his lifestyle which is editing photos and he seems to use it quite often. If there’s anything to learn from him in terms of sponsorships, don’t sell out your audience, give them a product you would use and enjoy yourself don’t try to sell something you hate because most likely they will also hate it, and most likely won’t feel your words as trustworthy.
what we all can learn from Alexander is that no matter the size of your channel or page you should always put 110% into every piece of media you create because you will better your creations and you will find people who are like-minded and want to hear your life story. Alexander is one of my favorite artists and creators I’ve ever watched and I hope that one day he gets international fame for his videos that really can open up your mind to worlds you’ve never even thought about exploring. I praise him and I hope anyone who reads this can go and watch at least one or two of his videos and apply what he talks about and his style of work into your masterpieces. If you even give 50% of what he gives I know you’ll have a great piece of art on your hands.
